Toyota recently opened a manufacturing factory in San Antonio, Texas which employs over 1,900 workers. The factory, less than two years old, will not shut down and layoffs which be avoided for now by instituting a reduced work week.
Toyota has 18,000 workers in the United States alone and is trying to avoid layoffs by offering employees voluntary buyouts. This allows Toyota to reduce their headcount while not having to resort to layoffs.
