Caterpillar Layoffs Continue

Caterpillar, which recently announced over 20,000 layoffs, is announcing some more. Caterpillar will lay off an additional 2,100 employees as demand continues to weaken. This round of announcements increases the total body count by 10%.

Boeing Layoffs

After reporting rapidly falling revenues for the fourth quarter of 2008, Boeing has announced that it will lay off 10,000 employees. That is 5500 more employees than Boeing announced it would lay off last week. That is around 6% of the whole company.

Starbucks Layoffs

Starbucks has announced new plans to close up to 300 stores and cut 6,700 jobs in the upcoming year. Starbucks has stated that they will attempt to offer employees transfers to nearby stores that need help.
